When I found out I was pregnant I was very interested in learning more about hypnobirthing, so when Kirsty was recommended to us by our community midwife I was delighted. Like many women I was fearful of giving birth, I also had a deep fear of hospitals and injections.
I had a lovely conversation on the phone with Kirsty, and really liked the way she spoke of hypnobirthing being able to give you a calm birth without fear. We went to the introduction to hypnobirthing evening, and following that signed up for five one on one classes.
As well as teaching us the art of relaxation, the course went into great detail about the birthing process and also helped me conker my fears.
My labour was far from straightforward, but even after 52 hours, and ending up in hospital despite wanting a home birth, both my baby and I remained calm and focused throughout.
With the guidance of Kirsty and the hypnobirthing technique, we managed to have a beautiful birth experience despite the obstacles we had to face.
Kirsty was approachable, professional and thoughtful through all of our sessions, and proved a great help after our son was born too.
I can not recommend Kirsty and hypnobirthing enough, she was amazing! KM, Tisbury

Lovely, amazing birth very much to plan at the birthing centre with fantastic supportive midwife.   All of us doing well. I'm very happy no stitches were required! Just wanted to let you know how things went & that Paul was awesome - really couldn't have done without him. We're both so very happy & proud of our gentle "birth experience". Really astounding & something totally unique. Thank you so much for imparting your wisdom & for teaching us. We will always be very grateful for both being able to fully participate in our daughter's magical, calm, beautiful birth. Now we're home we've found the birthgently music is helping in making the transition from being held all the time to the crib too. Thank you! JM & PM, Warminster

Birth is dynamic, complex and unique - it is what makes it such an amazing and life changing experience but it also means that there are never any guarantees of a 'perfect birth'. However, using hypno-birthing techniques will help you to create the best circumstances for having the birth you want and can make a real difference to the birth you actually have.

When should you attend the course?

The birthgently hypno-birthing course can be attended between 20 - 34 weeks of pregnancy as this allows plenty of time to absorb and practice the techniques. If you are more than 34 weeks you will still benefit because simply attending the course will have an immediate and positive effect on how you and your partner feel about labour and birth.

Birth partners

The role of the birth partner is integral to the birthgently approach and the course is designed for you to attend together. Your birth partner may be your partner or it may be, for example, a parent, a sibling or a friend. The most important thing is that it is someone you trust, feel fully supported by and who will practice the techniques with you.

Home practice

To gain the maximum benefit from the course it is important for you and your birth partner to regularly practice the various hypno-birthing techniques. The course includes a clear and easy to follow guide to home practice. As well as preparing you and your partner for the birth itself, the exercises are a fantastic way to enhance you and your baby's health during pregnancy. Research has demonstrated that relaxation during pregnancy is beneficial for both mother and baby. Practising the techniques regularly also helps to further strengthen the bond between you, baby and your birth partner.
